Triplon Supersolid of Cold Atoms in a Ladder-shaped Optical Lattice    [PDF]

We investigate the ground state phase diagram of the cold atoms in a ladder-shaped optical lattice by using stochastic series expansion quantum Monte Carlo method. We demonstrate how triplon superfluid, in which quasi-condensation appears in the form of power-law decaying phase correlations, can coexist with the long-range triplon solid to form a supersolid. We suggest that a large area of quasi-supersolid phase, in which both superfluid and solid orders are quasi-long range orders, could be charted in the phase diagram. We also discuss how this phenomenon can be realized and detected in real experiment.
